Time for an Adventure of a Lifetime
Are you curious about what scuba diving is like, yet not ready to commit to a full certification course? If so, consider joining us for a Try Scuba Diving program! Not only is it an exciting adventure for the whole family, but it also serves as a smart way to experience scuba diving firsthand. Furthermore, this program allows you to explore whether scuba diving is something you would truly enjoy before deciding to sign up for a certification course.
Try Scuba Diving in Key Largo
Classes begin at 9 AM with a brief session in the classroom. Following that, you’ll head to the pool for the rest of the morning. There, you’ll put on scuba gear, and afterward, your instructor will teach you some skills. Finally, you’ll have some extra time to experience scuba diving in the pool.
If you enjoy your pool experience, then you can join a dive charter trip with your instructor in the afternoon. During this adventure, you can dive at two different locations on the reef. Not only is it a fantastic opportunity to experience real diving, but it’s also an amazing way to explore the underwater world. Finally, the program typically concludes around 5 p.m.
You can split the program into two half days, with the pool experience on the first day and the optional open water dive on the second, if it fits your schedule better.
Scuba Gear, Dive Depth & Group Size
The dive depth will be about 25 feet or less, allowing you to see vibrant coral reefs filled with fish and marine wildlife. There’s even a chance to spot turtles, stingrays, moray eels, or maybe a shark!
Scuba-Fun offers the Try Scuba Diving program daily. The number of participants per instructor is no more than four students, so please reserve your spots in the program ahead of time! Of course, this program is also available for parties with a greater number of participants!
We include all scuba gear rentals in the program, ensuring you have everything you need for an unforgettable underwater adventure. The basic scuba kit provided includes a mask for clear vision, fins for smooth swimming, and a snorkel for easy breathing at the surface. You’ll also receive a BCD (Buoyancy Control Device) to help manage your buoyancy underwater, along with a regulator for safe and controlled breathing. Plus, a wetsuit is included to keep you comfortable and warm during your dive. With all equipment covered, you can focus on exploring the vibrant marine life and stunning coral reefs.
Prerequisites for Try Scuba
To participate, you must be 10 or older and either answer “no” to all questions on the medical questionnaire or have a doctor’s release stating you’re fit to scuba dive. You can review the DSD Medical Questionnaire here before enrolling in the program.
You must also know how to swim in water that is too deep to stand in. Your instructor may conduct a quick swim test to assess your swimming abilities and comfort level in deeper water.

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING OUR TRY SCUBA DIVING PROGRAM:
The Try Scuba Diving Program offers a safe and enjoyable diving experience in the pool and open ocean, without extensive training. Its success relies on various unpredictable factors, including:
- You must be able to swim and feel comfortable in deep water. Instructors will conduct a swim test in the pool, requiring you to swim two laps without touching the bottom or edge. Open water dives are not allowed for participants who do not show sufficient comfort in the water.
- If you cannot equalize your air spaces you cannot scuba dive. If you have never experienced a painful sensation when swimming or diving in a pool you likely will not have a problem to equalize. You and your instructor will find out during the morning pool session if there is an issue.
- If you feel too anxious or scared to scuba dive at any point during the program, the instructor will abort your instruction/dive as you wish.
Your instructor will strive to maximize your scuba dive experience within your capabilities. Depending on your comfort level and aptitude while scuba diving your instructor may need to adjust the dive time/duration.
Please thoroughly review our cancellation policy. There are no refunds if we have to end a student’s class early due to a lack of swimming ability or other inaptitude or if a student decides to end the course early. You can still go snorkeling the coral reefs instead of scuba diving and have a fun experience on the water in the afternoon.
